Summary
"Set in Seattle in a radio station building that features an eclectic mix of radio personalities, Swing State is a romantic political comedy. Ethan Smith runs a public music show called Ears Wide Shut featuring local rock musicians and is popular among a music-loving audience, but the show pays Ethan little in the way of a living wage. In the same radio building is a conservative talk radio show with a a local host who opines about politics from a conservative perspective. When unexpectedly the host goes missing, Ethan is asked to cover the shift by pretending to be a Republican. Donning a wig and bowtie, Ethan creates a fictitious persona, Charles Fern, the 'new voice of right-wing talk radio'. For Ethan, the charade is a one-time absurdity, but for the listeners, Charles Fern is the tough talker they have been waiting for. With a big spike in ratings, Ethan is offered a high paying job as Charles Fern, and suddenly the rock & roll DJ is foisted onto the national stage where he may lose everything including the love of his life"--Container
